Sourcing and Deal Execution

Sourcing-team breakout. Six concrete skill starters; pick one, build it with a partner, run it for the next 4 weeks. About 75 minutes.

BreakoutTBC, week of May 25 or June 1

What we cover

  • Skill starter 1: CIM section parser. Paste a CIM PDF; the Skill extracts management team, financials, and market section into structured tables. Build the Skill in Skill Builder, test on an inbound CIM (or the public S-1 in the deck), refine the column definitions until the output holds.
  • Skill starter 2: Weekly target news scan. A scheduled task or platform automation monitors a named target's headlines for the past 7 days and outputs a 3-bullet brief by Monday 7am. Pick the runtime based on whether Claude Desktop can be open.
  • Skill starter 3: Target signal scan. Web search across a target company's recent funding, hires, and product launches over the last 90 days. Cowork synthesizes into a 3-line brief with source URLs, ready to drop into your first-touch outreach. Native: web search plus Skill Builder.
  • Skill starter 4: Initial outreach draft. Prospect intel input becomes a personalized first-touch message in your voice. Uses Global instructions + Project context.
  • Skill starter 5: Sourcing brief Skill. Company name input becomes a 1-page investment summary. Cowork runs web search against the company's public web presence -- homepage, recent news, funding announcements -- and synthesizes a brief anchored in your firm's investment criteria. Native: web search plus Skill Builder.
  • Skill starter 6: Weekly sourcing-team digest. A scheduled task or platform automation reads your sourcing team's Teams channel or a shared Outlook folder every Friday and synthesizes the week's posts (new prospects, status updates, blockers) into a deal-team digest email. Native: M365 plus the right runtime.
  • Common shape across all 6: a Skill in Skill Builder + an optional scheduled runtime + a Plugin or MCP connector to write the output back to your CRM, knowledge base, or chat tool.

Why it matters

This is the breakout where Modules 1, 2, and 3 become an actual workflow your team runs on Tuesday morning, not a slide-deck idea. Pick the 1-2 starters that match your weekly bottleneck. Connector dependency: these starters route through Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams) and Cowork's built-in web search. Confirm M365 is OAuth-connected to your Cowork instance before the breakout, in Settings > Connectors.

Hands-on moment

Pick the one of the 6 Skill starters that solves your biggest weekly bottleneck. Build it with a partner during the breakout. Commit publicly to running it for the next 4 weeks.

Peer moment (3 min)

Before you pick a Skill, talk to your partner: which of the 6 would save the most time in YOUR week? Defend your call.
